These luxury holiday homes are hand-picked by Carbis Bay Holidays and independently assessed by Quality in Tourism on behalf of Visit Britain. With two railway stations, Lelant is linked to Carbis Bay and St Ives by one of the most scenic railways.

Lelant

Idyllically located on the mouth of the Hayle estuary and just a short drive from Carbis Bay and St Ives, the pretty village of Lelant is a wonderful base for a holiday.

With a large sandy beach, PorthKidney Sands, on its Atlantic side, an estuary with secluded sandy coves inland, and a golf course, its picturesque setting makes it a popular tourist spot. The beach is also pet-friendly, ideal if you’re bringing your dog on holiday. However, there is no lifeguard cover and the fast-flowing tides can be hazardous.

If you love coastal walks and feel fit, you can walk the 13-mile trek from St Uny Church in Lelant to Cornwall’s iconic St Michael’s Mount, in Mounts Bay. This ancient pilgrimage route follows the coast path towards St Ives before heading inland.

One of the country’s most picturesque train journeys has to be from Lelant Saltings to St Ives, sweeping past the white sandy beaches to the busy seaside resort.
