Taking its name from the Cornish word for "love", Kara boasts secure parking and is just minutes from St Ives' picturesque harbour, Porthminster beach and the renowned Porthminster Beach Café. A stunning first floor apartment, the striking interior has been furnished with the latest in entertainment and superb attention to detail. Holidaying here, guests' will find a wealth of activities to fill their days and a wide choice of golden sandy beaches and quality restaurants nearby.
An red leather suite and black design chair and stool nicely contrast the neutral theme of the décor in the living area which is open plan to the kitchen. There is a 42″ LCD TV with Sky movies and sport, a DVD player, Bluetooth speaker, complimentary WiFi and XBox One to keep all the family entertained, whatever the weather. A selection of books, board games and DVD’s are also available
A welcome guide in the apartment provides a wealth of information about St Ives and West Cornwall. A favourite suggestion for the energetic is to explore the South West Coastal Path. This stretches in both directions from St Ives, taking in the rugged coastline westwards to Zennor and the super sandy coves of Carbis Bay and Porthkidney Sands towards Hayle. Here a pint of Tribute at The Badger is a must!
The separate dining room comfortably seats four people for you to enjoy the wonderful dishes that an inspired cook can create with local produce and fresh fish harvested from the sea.
If you prefer to dine out, then the acclaimed Porthminster Cafe is just a short walk away. One of the best beach cafés in Cornwall, and a favourite of our guests’, this is not to be missed. Right on the beach, you have to try it to believe it. Other recommended eateries in St Ives are the Seafood Cafe, Blas Burgerworks and The AA rosette awarded Alba on the harbour front. Further afield why not try a leisurely breakfast at Godrevy Cafe in Gwithian or Jamie Oliver’s “Fifteen” at Watergate Bay?
The kitchen is open plan and beautifully finished with ‘Neff’ appliances to re-affirm the high quality of this accommodation. Built seamlessly into the graphite units, there is a microwave, electric hob, oven and dishwasher. Guests’ will find all the modern gadgets and kitchen implements that one would expect from a high specification self catering apartment, including a coffee machine, toaster and kettle.
There is a separate utility room off the hallway with a washer/dryer, ironing board and iron.

"Another great week in Kara at Galinas Point. It really is a great apartment with everything you need to have a great time, especially when you visit out of season as we do in both Spring and Autumn.
Special mention to Carolyn of Carbis Bay for the friendly and helpful way she dealt with our late arrival in the rain!
"We have stayed in Kara before and it is a lovely apartment with everything you need, even comfortable on a rainy day! Great to have a balcony and parking space - much needed in St Ives! Good location with a short pleasant walk into town centre and only a few minutes to fantastic beach with great facilities. Lots of places to eat, and great walks too!"
"Kara is in a superb location, a few minutes stroll into the town for shops, bars, restaurants & similarly a few minutes down the hill to the gorgeous Porthminster sandy beach!
Parking for 1 car and a decent space, easy enough to park a good-sized SUV.
First floor, so a view of the sea is possible from the balcony, which sees the sun from morning until late afternoon.
A sea view is also possible from the triangular kitchen window, which is nice when making that breakfast cup of tea.
Nice and spacious with all the equipment you could think of for a family holiday including the sky sports/movies pack and an Xbox one with a handful of games.
1 good sized bathroom with a nice touch of a heated mirror, 1 smaller en suite.
Plenty of wardrobe/drawer storage space.
A washer drier, along with iron. board, hair dryer.
2nd visit to this apartment and probably the 6th or 7th to Gallinas Point, would recommend to anyone wishing to have a great holiday in St Ives - location is great, so if you don’t want to drive, it's perfectly possible to park the car up and leave it there.
"It was our first experience staying in Cornwall with Carbis Bay Holidays. The apartment we stayed in was on the recommendation of our daughter who has stayed there on a number of occasions with her family. Kara was the apartment we were booked in and we certainly weren't disappointed. It was very clean and modern and had everything we wanted. To top it all the weather was fantastic and made for a truly memorable experience! We will definitely book there again whenever we decide to book another holiday in South Cornwall. Thank you!"

"For us, Kara at Galinas Point in St Ives is like a timeshare without the investment! We stay there either once or twice every year. A superbly appointed and located apartment overlooking the Porthminster Beach side of the town. We like to visit St Ives out of season and so where you stay becomes more important to deal with the inevitable rainy days encountered on stays from October to March. The Sky TV package, large TV, coffee maker and comfy sofa are a home from home. Highly recommended."
Been coming to Kara since 2009 and every year I think we may just like this apartment a little to much! We are looking forward to coming back next year!
Holiday in Kara, brilliant. Thank you.
Lovely apartment, well equipped.
Our first stay in this apartment and hopefully not our last. A wonderful place for all our family of four. Perfect location and weather. Thank you
We loved staying in this comfortable and well-equipped apartment. We will be back soon.
Lovely apartment. Another great visit to St Ives to celebrate a birthday and wedding.
Another great holiday in this lovely apartment with great weather. We will be back.
Our 5th stay in this lovely apartment. Good weather too.
Great apartment and parking is great. So close to Porthminster Beach Café – fabulous place.
Our 3rd New Year in St Ives, the 2nd at this apartment. Modern facilities, great location, good to be able to park up and enjoy St Ives.
Wonderful stay. Lovely modern apartment in an ideal setting, fun holiday. St Ives never disappoints.
Great week, we will be back. Thank you to Sarah for a great welcome.
Lovely apartment, thanks!
We’ve had a fabulous time in St Ives plenty of sun too. Spent time in the spa, just what we needed – wonderful. Thank you.
Another great week in Kara with a typically warm welcome from Sarah. Weather kind to us, we will be back again next year. Thank you
We’ve had a great week, first time at Kara and St Ives. We hope to be back. Many thanks
Great apartment, lovely holiday. Thank you
A great stay at your fabulous apartment and very friendly helpful housekeeper. We will be back!
“Kara is very tastefully decorated and its location is excellent for St. Ives. The property was of a high standard of cleanliness and the administration is also excellent as usual. We couldn’t fault it in any way.”
"It was our fourth stay in Kara in just over two years, so I guess we like it there. Porthminster Beach Cafe does breakfast now is really good. The Cornish Deli in town does a great breakfast brunch too and Caffe Pasta on the harbour must be the best combination of quality, price and location in all St Ives."
"We had a great holiday in Kara the location was ideal, St Ives is a very charming town with the narrow streets and the beautiful harbor. To friends who would like to visit Cornwall, I'll gladly recommend to stay in St Ives and Gallinas point. There are several good restaurants like Alba (seafood), we visited. Land's End, Minack Theatre, St Michael's Mount, Tintagel, Port Isaac and others."
"We had a fantastic stay at Kara and the whole family were very impressed with the quality of everything in the apartment. The cream tea and fridge bits and bobs were a nice welcome. The kids and myself made very good use of the Xbox in the mornings which was a great touch. The apartment met all our needs and we found its proximity to St Ives town and the beaches perfect. We are no strangers to St Ives, but our stay with you was really special and that was mainly down to the superb accommodation."
"The apartment ( Kara) was beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean and the views lovely from the balcony. We have been coming to St Ives now for a number of years and this apartment is in a very favourable location within easy walking of the town centre. This year we particularly liked the Seafood Cafe on Fore Street and The Ocean Grill on the Wharf Road. The Tate is always very good for lunch with spectacular views. The Fish and Chip cafe on The Wharf Road is excellent also as is the beach cafe at Godrevy Point . The piece de resistance however is eating locally purchased pasties on the Wharf looking out across the Harbour views and generally watching the world go by. For a shortish walk, park at the National Trust car park and Beach Cafe near Godrevy Point and walk along the cliff past the Light House to see the Seals basking in the cove ( counted up to 50 this year) also you can always see Kestrels hovering along the cliff tops, a beautiful walk."

"We had a really great week in Kara. It is the second time we have stayed there in 5 months. The TV size and Sky HD+ package, together with the most comfy master bedroom bed, make it a place we plan to return to as often as possible! The fixtures and fittings and cleanliness are both 5 star too. These things are all especially important out of season, when you are likely to spend more time in your accommodation. Where else in England but West Cornwall could you take a wonderful stroll on the sand in the middle of February?! We did at Godrevy. There is a super little cafe in the car park there too. If you want the best breakfast/brunch in St Ives look no further than the Cornish Deli in Chapel Street. All in all, we voted the week 10 out of 10 on the drive home!"
"Kara is a well-appointed apartment and is in a good location for St Ives and Porthminster Beech. St Ives is a beautiful holiday destination, enjoyed by my whole family. St Ives is the jewel but we also enjoyed Marazion. The food at Alba, The Mermaid and, in particular, The Waves was very good."
"Had an excellent week in St Ives staying in the Kara apartment. The apartment was excellent and the booking process worked flawlessly. The location was perfect for touring the region from Padstow down to the Lizard. Porthcurno beach on a sunny day is as good as any Californian beach and the theatre and telegraph museum are definitely worth a visit. Eden project was far better than I imagined it would be. The planting has matured and was at its best in July."
"Kara was wonderful, everything we needed. The flat was warm comfortable and you had thought of everything DVDs', books, games etc. Beds, very comfortable and clean. Gallinas Point is very nice, and you feel very secure. The Eden Project was wonderful,we traveled to many places. St Ives town is lovely, with many little unusual shops. Plenty of restaurants,we ate at the Seafood restaurant in town, excellent food and service, people very friendly. We really had a great time. Thankyou, very well organised from booking to leaving."
"We had a fabulous holiday. The apartment was ideally located being just a short walk into st Ives centre and yet far enough away from the hustle and bustle. The standard of the apartment was fabulous. It had most creature comforts. The secure parking was such a bonus so you didn't have to worry about where to park!"
"I have to say the apartment itself was beautiful with the level of cleanliness exceptional and it was so comfortable - it far exceeded our expectations - a real 'home-from-home'. The standard throughout the apartment was exceptionally high with the furnishings and fittings all excellent quality. The bed was absolutely blissful and we both slept like logs."
"We had a great time in St Ives. Kara was a lovely apartment - we enjoyed the high spec and 'newness of it all.' Kara's location was also excellent. We could easily walk into St Ives or onto Porthminster Beach."
