Ocean Edge is an exquisite ground floor luxury apartment at Gwel Marten, located just a short walk from the award winning Carbis Bay beach and boasting amazing panoramic sea views across St Ives bay. When entering Ocean Edge via the suntrap courtyard, you are greeted into a bright and spacious hallway with ample space for hanging coats and storing shoes. A useful airing cupboard can also be found, great for drying off any wet walking gear.
As soon as you enter the open plan living area you can’t help but be drawn to the floor to ceiling windows which offer one of the most beautiful views of St Ives Bay and Carbis Bay beach below. The large corner sofa comfortably seats six and is ideally positioned for sitting back and watching the comings and goings in the bay using the binoculars provided. Alternatively, if you are able to take your eyes off the view, a 40” Samsung LCD television with Freeview and DVD player is provided along with a selection of DVD’s and complimentary Wi-Fi. This room offers a double aspect, with an additional window looking to the side of the property down towards Carbis valley. A tub chair is ideally positioned for taking in this outlook.
A patio door leads down to the picturesque terrace where the views can once again be admired. For those cooler nights, a colour changing contemporary electric fire can be enjoyed and both blinds and curtains can be found. Dimable lighting also helps create the perfect atmosphere in this sumptuous room.
The dining area forms part of the open plan living area and is ideally positioned opposite the kitchen. A large oak table with six cream leather seats is provided, great for if you wish to invite friends over to dine. A booster seat is also provided for younger guests. A large window looks to the side of the property, allowing additional light to flood in. A book case houses a selection of games and books and an iPod docking clock radio is available for your use. Should you decide to dine out, Carbis Bay offers a good selection of restaurants and St Ives is just a five minute train ride away, perfect for enjoying an even larger variety of cuisine.
The impressive kitchen at Ocean Edge boasts black gloss porcelain floor tiles, under cabinet lighting and ample storage within the white gloss fitted units. A large island unit takes centre stage, with three cream leather bar stools ideally positioned for enjoying a quick bite to eat. The kitchen is superbly appointed with an integrated touch screen ceramic hob with extractor hood suspended above, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer, double oven/grill and microwave. A wonderful selection of crockery and utensils is provided, including a toaster, kettle, coffee machine, wine cooler and sandwich toaster.
A utility cupboard is located off the kitchen where the iron, ironing board and airer can be found.
The spacious and peaceful master bedroom is located off the main hallway and offers a sumptuously made double wrought iron bed, bedside tables with matching reading lamps, chest of drawers, double wardrobe, mirror and an LCD Freeview television with built-in DVD. A large window overlooks the courtyard, allowing an abundance of light to flood in.
The second bedroom is also located off the hallway and offers a large window overlooking the courtyard. Twin wrought iron beds are sure to provide the perfect nights sleep in this quiet sanctuary. Two bedside tables with matching reading lamps, chest of drawers, double wardrobe, vanity mirror and an LCD Freeview television with built-in DVD is provided.
All bed linens and towels (bath sheet, bath towel, hand towel and flannel) are provided per guest. You are requested to bring your own beach towels.
A complimentary travel cot and booster seat are provided; please provide your own cot bedding.
Both bedrooms are separated from the rest of the living accommodation by double doors. This is a bonus if you or your children want an early night without being disturbed by others in the living room.
The large bathroom of Ocean Edge is fully tiled with large black gloss porcelain floor tiles and neutral wall ceramics. It also boasts a freestanding double end bath, large walk in shower with digital Mira power shower, WC, large freestanding wash basin with storage underneath, chrome heated towel rail, backlit vanity mirror, electric shaver point and an additional large mirror.
A bath sheet, bath towel, hand towel and flannel are provided for guests (beach towels are not provided), along with complimentary White Company toiletries.
Terrace and Communal Gardens
The tranquil terrace is accessed via six steps down from the living area patio door. The views from the terrace are utterly stunning, stretching across from Porthminster Point to Godrevy lighthouse, taking in St Ives and Carbis Bay beach. A table, four chairs and parasol are provided, a perfect setting for enjoying alfresco meals, sun downer cocktails or just watching the quaint branch line train hug the coast into St Ives.
The beautiful communal gardens of Gwel Marten can be accessed from the terrace and are available for guests to use and to also benefit from direct access onto the South West Coastal Path.
The suntrap courtyard is located to the rear of the property within the gated entrance. A bistro table with four chairs is perfectly positioned to enjoy a secluded, quiet read in the sun.
Gwel Marten Apartments occupy a superb position on Headland Road at Carbis Bay. With dramatic views along Carbis Bay beach across to St Ives and Godrevy Lighthouse in the other direction.
The apartments are a short walk away from the Blue Flag Carbis Bay Beach and also convenient for the short train ride into St Ives renowned for its necklace of 5 superb beaches. Also the apartments are adjacent to the South West Coast Path, you can enjoy the stunning scenery along the cliff walk to St Ives or to Lelant and Hayle. A convenient and comfortable base to explore the many delights of Cornwall.
These 4 star and 5 star apartments are furnished and fitted to a high standard having shared use of the terraced gardens and lawn to the front of the development and enjoying spectacular views of St Ives Bay. Allocated parking is provided for guests.

"We had an absolutely wonderful holiday in the Oceans Edge apartment. The view was breathtaking! Perfect for our needs, it's well equipped and very comfortable. It was beautifully clean. St Ives is the perfect autumn break for us with a family with two teenagers and a toddler. There is something for everyone. We loved being a stones throw away from Carbis Bay Beach, which whatever the weather or time of day, is always beautiful. We enjoyed surfing and super dooper hot chocolates at the Sunset Surf Cafe at Gwithian Beach, Go Karting just outside of Hayle was great too. The drive to New Quay is not too far and we all had a great afternoon at the Sealife Centre. We enjoyed meals in St Ives at Oceans Grill, and Blas Burger. Being so close to the train station was great, saving us the challenges of parking (and meaning we could both have a glass if wine!)."
"We had a wonderful stay in Ocean Edge. It absolutely lived up to our expectations and of course the position capturing the view of the bay was addictive. It had everything we needed and I was delighted it was immaculately clean. We did love Kynance cove and will return there. We also ate twice at Onshore cafe in St Ives with our two boys which we found very pleasant and ideal food for kids and adults alike. The seafood was delicious."
"This was our first visit to St Ives and definitely will not be the last. We had a lovely week and Ocean Edge was a great apartment. It is modern, tastefully furnished, clean, has absolutely everything you could need, a wonderful power shower ! and a view you could never tire of - wonderful. We visited Land's End which was worth a visit to say you've done it and St Michaels Mount which was wonderful. St Ives was great and we dined in the Harbour Fish and Chip restaurant and the burger place (can't remember name?) which were both very good. We walked a couple of the easy coastal walks and the scenery is breathtaking so this is a must. "

"We had a really wonderful week in Ocean Edge. It is a beautifully appointed apartment with everything we needed (and more!). The view across the bay was stunning and we really appreciated the patio area, particularly at the end of the day when it caught the late afternoon and evening sun. We ate out a couple of times (La Casita and Porthminster Beach - which were both very enjoyable) but the view from the apartment just couldn't be beaten and we loved dining in too. Walking into St Ives along the coastal path; strolling across Porthkidney Beach; parking over at Godrevy, having breakfast in the beach cafe and walking it off along the beach; relaxing on Carbis Beach enjoying the sun all contributed to a much needed and very welcome break."

In order to make a booking, please either click on the Booking Calendar dates or enter your Arrive and Depart dates of your holiday, please bear in mind these should be a Changeover Day during April to October or in any school holiday period, unless at late notice.
For late notice breaks ie arrivals within 7 days, all breaks are discounted by 25% unless the owner has set a minimum rental, the dates can overlap a changeover day if the Arrive Date is within 7 days.
Short stays of 3 nights minimum are available between October and March, excluding bank holidays and school holidays. If booked in advance, the short break cannot overlap a changeover day.
