“The apartment is beautiful and has everything you need plus more.”

The views are stunning and we loved having a coffee in the morning whilst watching the seals inn the sea. The apartment is very accessible due to it being in the same level as the car park which made it very quick and easy to transport our luggage etc to the property. The only problem I had was that the mirror in the main bedroom is positioned under the smoke alarm and whenever I tried to use my hair straighteners the alarm would go off. I would probably position it elsewhere. This is the ...

Hi - very pleased you enjoyed Aquamarine. The issue you experienced with the smoke alarm is puzzling - it doesn’t work by detecting heat - unlike the heat detector in the kitchen - but by small dust/ smoke particles in the air. This is the first reported incident like this. It may have been caused by steam in the air if you’d recently showered and left the bathroom door open as you straightened your hair; it’s possibly due to minute dust/ fibre particles which have collected inside the device and triggered the alarm. It’s better for the alarm to trigger than not. I’ll have this examined. Thanks for bringing to our attention. Property Owner

“Aquamarine is one of those rare things - accommodation that is furnished & decorated to a very high standard with modern amenities (think Alexa, Sonos music system, Philips hue lighting) whilst being very homely.”

There was literally everything you could need for a short break. The view from the lounge & bedroom is truly special & we really enjoyed listening to the sounds of the sea, especially at night. There were additional “touches” that were greatly appreciated, including blankets for use on the balcony, the IPad (including bookmarks of local amenities) & the Tate membership card, which we made use of during a trip to nearby St Ives. The fact that the apartment is all on one level, & on the same level as the nearby parking, makes it a good choice for anyone who may struggle with mobility. The owner (John) checked in with us via e-mail during our stay (including to make recommendations for places to eat) which we greatly appreciated. We very much hope to return to Aquamarine in the future & to explore more of the Carbis Bay Area. Rebecca & Euan

“Have stayed at this apartment for 10 years and love it.”

Views are fantastic and convenient for train station. Also suitable for my father who is newly diagnosed with Parkinson’s as the apartment is on one level from the car park. Our stay even though in February was a huge tonic as we had a very bad Xmas with illness.

“A lovely apartment in a beautiful location with wonderful views overlooking Carbis Bay with St Ives and Godrevy tempting you to visit them as soon as possible.”

The accommodation has almost all that you could wish for and was very clean and modern. The Welcome Pack was also very much appreciated. The dedicated, secure car parking space at the rear of the apartment is on the same level as the main entrance door and less than 10 metres away making unloading very easy, whilst the ‘Bay’ views at the front of the apartment are at 3rd floor level giving the uninterrupted sea views. There were only two small areas which could easily be reviewed and helpful for future guests: • The addition of towel/bathrobe ‘hooks’ in each bathroom • The addition of wall trays/dishes in each shower enclosure for shower gel/face cloths. Otherwise, this is a holiday apartment to which we would love to return again and again -prices permitting! October 2023

“This is a very high standard property which is beautifully appointed and in a great location.”

The hiTech lighting and entertainment facilities are very good, as is the WiFi. Sadly there were a couple of deficiencies which made the overall score four rather than five stars. Firstly, in a property such as this we would expect a SuperKing bed in the primary bedroom. The bedding is old and yellowed and needs replacing. Also in the height of summer the 10.5 Tog winter quilt was uncomfortably warm, which meant we had to go and purchase a summer weight quilt. The oven and grill pan were dirty and had not been cleaned for some considerable time. Just not acceptable in a property of this quality and price. We could not get help with these issues when they occurred as the local office is closed on a Sunday.

Apologies for the cleanliness of the oven falling below expectations - will be redressed if not already done so. Three full sets of new White Company linen/ towels introduced in April - must be some residual items not taken out of circulation; odd older items mixed with new will have accentuated any difference in colour. The older items will be treated to a whitening wash or taken out of circulation. It’s impractical to look at the weather forecast for the days ahead and provide a tog rated duvet to meet everyone’s personal preference. 10.5 tog, generally selected as year-round by hotels, seems to be the best compromise to suit most people most of the time. We were in Ultramarine (identical apartment) in the same week and the maximum daytime temperatures were 18.5C and nighttime temperatures lower. We did not feel too warm sleeping with identical bedding. An advantage of those apartments which are above ground level is that they directly front the ocean with the benefit of double Juliet balcony bedroom doors which can securely be left opened to regulate the room temperature on those stuffy nights. Sorry you found the king size bed, which is clearly stated as such in the property details, uncomfortable and too small. None of the other beach apartments marketed by CBH offer superking but I’m sure CBH can advise which properties do to help you make an informed choice, Although the local office was closed on Sunday, CBH do offer an out of hours service or you should have reported the issues first thing on Monday so they could have been addressed to your liking early on in your holiday. “Aquamarine is in the best location in our opinion.”

Overlooking the beautiful Carbis Bay from the front. From the kitchen window at the back you can see your car in the secure car park and the train station. The front of Aquamarine has a patio door to the lounge with a veranda hosting a table and four chairs to enjoy the views and the sound of the sea. The main bedroom door has a patio glass with the same views and sounds to be enjoyed 24/7. Aquamarine is 5 star luxury with everything included that you could need and more besides. We relaxed and felt at home straight away and enjoyed wonderful walks around the coast, especially into St Ives and trips on the train enjoying great local places to visit , explore and eat out. “Very well furnished and comfortable.”

Perfect location with unspoilt views of Carbis bay, St. Ives harbour and Hayle sands. The adjacent rail station gives easy access to St. Ives. One comment I have is that the curtains over the door to the balcony from the master bedroom would benefit from having a blackout liner as the light from the adjacent stairwell is very bright and illuminates the bedroom at night. Other than that it is perfect.

Hi Thank you for your feedback. We have recently replaced the bedroom curtains and consciously chose not to fit blackout linings since our sleep pattern is to be woken gradually as the sun rises. The lights to which you refer are not directly outside the bedroom but may reflect from the balcony glazing which may produce a very subdued amount of light. We don't notice since we are used to streetlights outside at home. We recognise that some people do prefer pitch black sleeping conditions which might more easily be achieved in an apartment away from the central section. Property Owner

We have mulled away the hours watching the waves – admiring the views – how can you ever get bored of them!! Discovered some new coastline this week. St Agnes + the coast there with all the deserted tin mines is wonderful. The walk from Bottallack to Cape Cornwall is beautiful! Have also discovered some new places to eat – had a wonderful lunch at Porthmeor café overlooking the ‘surfers’ beach. Again, AMAZING dinner at the Beer and Bird, Seafood café was wonderful and Silco for hot chocolates, coffee, gin and tapas lunch. We could go on and on!! Aquamarine is beautiful. The iPad facility and Sonos music system was also a great additional luxury. With regard to the area we have a few favourites to mention that visitors shouldn't miss: Porthcurno beach and The Minnack. Breathtaking. The Telegraph Museum is also a good afternoon out. For a light lunch -the hut near the beach at Perranuthno has good food and the people are so welcoming. A trip around the coast at St Agnes, Kynance Cove. Flambards exhibitions, the walk from Carbis bay into St Ives. The National Maritime Museum at Falmouth. A walk around Godrevy to the seals and then lunch at Godrevy cafe." L. Scott

very clean and with everything we needed to have a very relaxing and comfortable holiday. One of the nicest walks was from Porthreath towards the National Trust owned Western Hill leading to Ralph's Cupboard (a collapsed sea cave) along to Bassset's Cove and back through Tehidy Woods. Fantastic coastline and very rugged. Another walk we enjoyed was from St Mawes out along the Percuil Creek and then inland to St Just-in-Roseland Church. Stunning views of Falmouth. In Newquay we did a circular walk from the harbour to the Huer's Hut towards Towan Head, past Fistral beach and out to Pentire Point - stunning views across the sand dunes at Crantock and the River Gannel Estuary. Another good walk is from Padstow heading towards Butter Hole Cave and Pepper Hole to reach the headland at Stepper Point. Amazing views across the Camel Estuary and Doom Bar. We did a 3 mile walk from Polperro to Talland Bay. It is quite steep in parts but again the views are stunning and Talland Bay is very pretty and has a cafe. Meals out that we enjoy include The Garrack Hotel in St Ives, Gurnards Head, The Alba in St Ives (book early to get a table in the window upstairs with terrific views over the harbour), and The Badger Inn at Lelant (always busy and we love the carvery!). We love visiting Geevor Tin Mine and this year we visited King Edwards Mine for the first time." H. Parks

I was impressed with Carbis Bay Holidays' administration, "Aquamarine" was superb, their attention to detail to cover every need for a luxury stay was noticeable. I-pads, PS2 and Xbox's for the kids and comfort and space for the adults. The view from the balcony over the bay and seeing the seals swimming was a moment to remember. The cleanliness of the apartment was excellent and the welcome basket was a classy touch. With regard to walks, the Carbis Bay to St Ives coastal path walk was wonderful, with some stop and stare moments at the landscape along the way and good exercise for walking off the lunch from the Porthminster Beach cafe lunch at St Ives for the return journey if you felt fit enough. There is lunch to be enjoyed in Mousehole just half an hour away followed by a visit to St Michaels Mount just 4 miles away or if you venture to Lands End 20 miles away, try to find Sennen Cove just a mile before, much quieter, enjoyable and just as stunning. Restaurant wise - The Badger Inn at Lelant a mile away did a hearty Sunday Carvery, whilst the local Italian, La Casita and Becks Fish and Chips in Carbis Bay are to be thoroughly recommended. St Ives is a mile and a quarter away, 3 mins by train that runs from 2 minute walk away or a 25 minute coastal walk has a take your pick supply of restaurants for taste and variety." M. Cabble

Just a short drive from iconic St Ives, the seaside village of Carbis Bay is best-known for its beautiful stretch of pure white sand. With turquoise waters and sheltered conditions, the beach feels almost subtropical and is the perfect spot for a good old-fashioned day by the sea. The beach is also home to the Ocean Sports Centre, so if sunbathing is not really your thing, why not hire a kayak or SUP and get out on the water instead. Or why not treat yourself to a Spa day at the delightful hotel which overlooks the beach and has a fabulous terrace where cocktails can be enjoyed in the Cornish sunshine? Carbis Bay has a small range of local shops and restaurants as well as a fish & chip takeaway and railway branch line.
