“We were very happy with the apartment.”

We have stayed in several within the Peninsula development and loved the views and wuality of the furnishings in this one. My only, and minor, criticism would be the lack of cutlery, which had to be washed by hand to avoid running the dishwasher as often. However, I am very disappointed with Carbis Bay Holidays since it changed ownership. I phoned and explained several issues we were having in the apartment and received a totally inadequate response via my Carbis bay acount rather than my email account, which was very difficult to access. The person I had spoken to clearly hadn't listened to me. The problems were as follows:- 1. There were no spa passes in the apartment. I told the lady on the phone that we had looked thoroughly for them, yet the response in the account was to look for them in the apartment. This had happened previously when we had stayed in one of the Peninsula apartments. In the end, I went to the spa and established that they should have been attached to one of the keys, so I perhaps a previous guest perhaps took them! This means we weren't able to use the spa for a few days until the staff there very helpfully sorted out how we could still use the spa. 2. I also complained that the heated radiator in the bathroom wasn't working. The wire leading to it had been detached - again, it is very irritating to be told to switch it on next to the light switch when I had explained the problem by phone. 3. Thirdly, the air filter at the bottom of the oven unit had become detached and was unsightly. This is a maintenance issue and didn't affect the working of the oven and grill, but needs dealing with. We didn't complain at the time, but the Sky tv wasn't working at the property, so we just didn't use it, but someone who was expecting to use Sky would find this very annoying. Finally, it is very disappointing that your welcome packs have dwindled to practically nothing other than a small bag of chololate buttons (which we don't eat) and a small milk. We used to get Cornish apple juice, scones and clotted cream and a bottle of wine/bubbles, which were very nice touches. I also find it annoying that so far out of the initial CoVid scares, that we are still restricted to early arrival and departure times and are expected to do so much cleaning up within the property before we leave. If it was a budget apartment, I would feel differently, or if a discount was offered for performing some of the clear-up tasks at the end of our holiday, but Sykes has also put the prices up hugely over the last year or two, which is rather difficult to swallow when the service falls so much shorter than it used to be.
