Cornwall is fast becoming ‘the’ destination to experience a traditional Christmas. Part of the allure is the Christmas light displays that are hosted by the counties towns, city and villages, often from the beginning of December through to twelfth night; illuminating Cornwall with breathtaking displays.
All offer a warm welcome, because local Cornish communities, schools, and businesses really want you to enjoy your visit and will pull out all the stops to make it a quality, safe and enjoyable experience.
‘Switch on’ Saturday 15th December 2018 at 7 pm.
In the tiny fishing village of Mousehole, on the shore of Mount’s Bay, thanks again to monies raised by the villagers, will be a spectacular array of lights in their harbour including: twinkling fishing boats, giant sea serpents, whales and dolphins and an illuminated millennium Celtic Cross,as the centerpiece, situated on St Clement Island.
Wander through the narrow streets all ablaze with colour, and smell the aroma of mulled wine and mince pies.
The lights will then be on each evening between 5 pm and 11 pm from 16th December until 4th January 2019 (with the exception of 19th December, when the lights will be dimmed between 8-9 pm).

Come and see how a wonderful display happens when a whole village gets together, and even make their own Christmas lights.
The streets are lit up with the “Twelve Days of Christmas”; Rudolph, Dasher and Blitzen and all of Father Christmas’s reindeer will greet you with their glowing smiles, be entranced by the swans shimmering on the river.
Angarrack’s Christmas lights will be switched on at 7 pm on Saturday 2nd December.
The lights will be on from 5 pm to 10 pm every evening until January 2019.
In its 22nd year, The Truro Festival of Lights is another community driven display, which welcomes you to the capital of Cornwall.
Truro will shine with a dazzling and mesmerising procession of over six hundred handmade withy and tissue lanterns that float through the air, carried by professional artists.
They will be serenaded by at least one hundred local musicians and dancers. Truro Cathedral will look majestic, be amazed by its beautiful illuminated Christmas tree.
Padstow offers a wonderful Christmas festival and the Christmas lights will form the backdrop to the varied festivities on offer.
Their lights focus on many traditional themes, as well as a serpent, suspiciously looking like Old Nessie.
Many buildings and pubs around the harbour are also decked with sparkling lights, whilst The Padstow Carollers take to the streets with their beautiful carols to add even more traditional atmosphere.
The light display is on from the 6th to 9th December, light up time: 6 pm.
The Christmas magic of St Ives begins on the 2nd December when the town will be ‘traffic free’ to witness the visit of Father Christmas who will be arriving in the harbour courtesy of the RNLI.
St Ives, as beautiful as it already is, will be adorned with festive Christmas trees, a glowing harbour of lights and twinkling shops, with inviting displays throughout the Christmas period.
Switch-on is the 2nd December by the Mayor of St Ives.
Christmas comes to life in the heart of this coastal town on the 30th November, when the lights illuminate the town to the Moor.
Expect an itinerary of traditional events throughout Christmas to complement this popular destinations amazing array of bright lights.The children’s parade starts at Events Square at 5:30 pm and finishes on The Moor, where the schools perform Christmas songs and carols before the lights are switched on.Festive fun, food and drink will be in abundance.
